Happy Tuesday! Sick of scrolling through your streaming services endlessly in search of something to watch? Our monthly âwhat to watch onâ guides are here to help! This month weâre recommending movies & TV shows to watch on Max.
Since our weekly newsletters usually review the new TV that comes out, these monthly editions are a place to highlight the rest. Not quite a âBest Ofâ list for the platform, we aimed for a collection of movies and TV shows we think you should check out that include underrated faves, shows weâve been re-watching, and more. You may notice shows like The White Lotus, Succession, and The Last of Us did not make the list, but thatâs just because we assume youâre sick of us telling you to watch them at this point.
We hope you find something in here that sounds up your alley for your weekend watching. And if you missed it from prior months, you can find our What to Watch on Netflix list here, Hulu here, Prime Video here, and Peacock here.

10 Movies to Watch on Max
Captain Fantastic (2016)
I adore Viggo Mortensen and Kathryn Hahn and they both are so so good in this heartfelt comedy-drama. Mortensen stars as a father who has been raising his six children off the grid in the Pacific Northwest for over a decade â teaching them survival skills, philosophy, and critical thinking in a unique, unorthodox way. When a tragedy forces the family to reenter society, the kids face challenges that test their ideals and relationships, and make them question the unconventional lifestyle they've led. Itâs a beautiful and well-acted exploration of family, freedom, and the balance between independence and conformity. â JC
Love Lies Bleeding (2024)
Rose Glassâs romantic thriller stars Kristen Stewart as a reclusive gym manager who falls hard for an ambitious bodybuilder (Katy OâBrian) on her way to Vegas to pursue her dreams. Part dark crime movie, part romance, this movie subverts expectations for either genre and goes in very strange, mesmerizing directions. Itâs visceral, lurid, and intoxicating, with 10/10 performances from Stewart and OâBrian. â JS
