Good afternoon. Yesterday, Netflix announced a 10-year $5 billion agreement with WWE, marking the company’s closest brush with sports streaming after years of saying they weren’t interested in sports rights. They seem to be hoping to move toward more live entertainment in general — the platform will be hosting the 30th annual SAG Awards show in February and a tennis match between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz in March.

Our thoughts on brand new streaming content, and where you can watch.
The Woman in the Wall
Keywords: psychological thriller, crime drama, Irish miniseries
Watch if you like: Sharp Objects, The Sinner, Mare of Easttown
Jenni’s Rating: B+
After only one episode, I am already deeply invested in unraveling whatever dark truth is at the core of this drama. The Woman in the Wall opens on a small Irish town where Lorna Brady (Ruth Wilson) is plagued by bouts of sleepwalking that leave her unsettled and confused. While lightly troubling, it’s mostly harmless until she wakes to discover a corpse in her home with no recollection of how it got there. When the murder of a priest in Dublin leads a ‘big city’ detective to her door that same week, Lorna is forced to confront lingering trauma from the time she spent at one of the Magdalene Laundries — notorious asylums for unwed mothers run by the Irish Catholic Church.
Wilson is captivating in her role as the traumatized, sleep-deprived, possibly mad Lorna, while the supporting cast brings subtle, lived-in texture to the small-town setting. Daryl McCormack (Bad Sisters) is similarly effective as the Dublin detective frustrated by the slow pace of the community he now needs answers from.
There are surprising moments of levity in The Woman in the Wall so far, but on the whole, horror elements drive the story forward. With several mysteries, a historical backdrop, and a gothic conspiracy at play, I’m totally immersed and ready to find out what happens next.

Serving as a prequel to the 2012 movie of the same name, Ted follows a teenage John Bennett (previously played by Mark Wahlberg) as he navigates high school and deals with his dysfunctional family in the suburbs of Boston. The original creator, Seth MacFarlane, reprises his role as creator and as the voice of the titular anthropomorphic teddy bear.
